Clark Fork Ranch Sheltered on the banks of the Clark Fork River this fly-fishing retreat is an amazing offering of some 420 acres that encompass some of the best trout fishing in Montana. Driving to the retreat the private driveway offers panoramic Clark Fork Valley vistas combined with dense forest canopy stretches. The land is surrounded on three sides by the United States Forest Service and fronts completely on the fourth side by the Clark Fork River. The greater portion of the property is heavily forested in fir, larch, pine and other native tree species, the river bottoms have classical cottonwood river bottoms which create prolific wildlife habitat for moose, beaver, and many other indigenous animals.

Just downstream of the Schwartz Creek river access, this sportsman’s fly-fishing paradise includes both sides of this prolific section of the river, even more, the river braids into two significant channels and both sides of the channels are owned by the landowner.

This is truly a fisherman’s jewel, particularly for the offering price and especially when compared to what selling prices for properties are on the less significant Rock Creek area. According to the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks website there is significant populations of brown trout, rainbow trout, and cutthroat trout in this section of the river. This section of river gets little pressure from bank fisherman as it is just Clark Fork Ranchdownstream of the put-in point and drifters are just getting their start so are less apt to bank fish. This section of river is considered a challenging floating section as it contains many braids and channels. This equates to over 15,000 feet, and on both sides, of private river fishing. These numerous braids and channels offer excellent opportunity for trophy catches.

The retreat is private and secluded but not isolated as it is less than thirty-five minutes from downtown Missoula. Wildlife gravitate to the environment. The property is offered in the original 9 parcels, it is un-zoned, and each parcel could be resold separately to offer the purchaser the opportunity to create a sportsman’s retreat which would allow for each owner to have their individual building site. Portions of the meadow appear to be in the 100 year floodplain, you can see the floodplain map also by selecting the map link to the right. Clark Fork RanchThere exists a three-bedroom, two-bath, residence that was built in the 1970s that has a septic system. You can see the home photos here. There is a farm equipment building and a historic cabin as well. In pricing the offering no values were placed on the improvements but the existing improvements offer potential opportunity for a purchaser to improve the existing improvements under "grandfather" provisions.
